THE TRAILHEAD, Inc., d/b/a THE TRAILHEAD is a Colorado corporation established in 2004 by Keith and Evelyn Baker. Dick and Jan Scar founded Trailhead Ventures in 1972 in Buena Vista, Colorado. Trailhead Ventures began as a guiding service and grew into a retail concern. THE TRAILHEAD occupied its present home at 707 Highway 24 North, Buena Vista, in 1986.

Keith Baker, CEO. Keith entered the outdoors retail industry after retiring from a 23 year career as a naval officer. From 2002 until buying THE TRAILHEAD, he worked for Denver-based Specialty Sports Ventures, LLC, a joint venture of the Gart Companies and Vail Resorts, as General Manager of Grand West Outfitters in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Evelyn Baker, President and CFO. Evelyn entered the outdoors retail industry in 2004 when she and Keith formed THE TRAILHEAD, Inc. after a career in the defense contracting industry. Evelyn brings her 20 year background in running, skiing, rock and ice climbing, snowshoeing, and mountaineering skills, and a talent for graphic arts to THE TRAILHEAD.

Evelyn and Keith and the other members of THE TRAILHEAD Team find outdoor retail the ideal career. We share passions for outdoors recreation and adventure travel, a people-first orientation, strong creative instincts, and a devotion to saving our environment. Testing, selecting, and using our products; serving our customers; merchandising our shop; and sharing outdoor ethics are just a few of the ways we exercise those passions.
